GUEST SPEAKER SESSION BY Mr. JUNAID JAVAID

Mr. Junaid currently working in TPL Holdings limited as a Head of Sales Department joined the Leadership class at IoBM, for a guest speaker session. He spoke of how strong leadership and team building creates within an organization and can be managed. He has strong leadership, team-building and management skills with a track record of growing existing businesses and building new ones from the ground up. He is an excellent sales person who knows how to use networking and makes the best use of relationship he has developed in the corporate environment.

Leadership is a great quality and every great organizational success besides other factors owes its credit to the leader who led it to glory. Small groups, families, organizations, states, empires and even the world at large need good leaders who can lead their respective followers and organizations to success. Every human endeavor needs a unifying and driving force for success and that driving force is ultimately traced to good leadership. It is also worth noting that every one of us in some capacity, sometimes, or somewhere is a leader. Leadership should not be confused with the role of only those who make headlines but in essence almost everyone have sometimes somewhere, somehow played a leading role.

Leading is a funny technique. One that calls to me personally, but it certainly isn’t for everyone. On that note, sometimes I wonder if I feel really called to lead or it’s just my pride surfacing and me wanting to be noticed as the leader. A good leader is hardworking, meaning no time for being lazy or no for social media. This comes from their desire to make everything simpler and easier, while having the mental clarity to find clever ways to do so. Leadership styles where different skills come into play. But no matter what your approach, if you display the previous traits you will be well equipped to lead a team successfully.

Creating a legitimate rapport with your staff makes it less likely that personal issues and resentment can creep in and derail the group. When your team knows that you are empathetic to their concerns, they will be more likely to work with you and share in your vision, rather than foster negative feelings. Being a consistent leader will gain you respect and credibility, which is essential to getting buy-in from the group. By setting an example of fairness and credibility, the team will want to act the same way. Another characteristic of leadership that lends itself to credibility. Those who are honest, especially about concerns, make it far more likely that obstacles will be addressed rather than avoided. Honesty also allows for better assessment and growth. Having the vision to break out of the norm and aim for great things --then the wherewithal to set the steps necessary to get there is an essential characteristic of good leadership. By seeing what can be and managing the goals on how to get there, a good leader can create impressive change. Effective communication helps keep the team working on the right projects with the right attitude. If you communicate effectively about expectations, issues and advice, your staff will be more likely to react and meet your goals. Not every problem demands the same solution. By being flexible to new ideas and open-minded enough to consider them, you increase the likelihood that you will find the best possible answer. You will set a good example for your team and reward good ideas. A strong vision and the willingness to see it through is one of the most important characterizes of leadership. The leader who believes in the mission and works toward it will be an inspiration and a resource to their followers.

Having a great idea, and assembling a team to bring that concept to life is the first step in creating a successful business venture. While finding a new and unique idea is rare enough; the ability to successfully execute this idea is what separates the dreamers from the entrepreneurs. However you see yourself, whatever your age may be, as soon as you make that exciting first hire, you have taken the first steps in becoming a powerful leader.

Whatever ethical plan you hold yourself to, when you are responsible for a team of people, it’s important to raise the bar even higher. Your business and its employees are a reflection of yourself, and if you make honest and ethical behavior a key value, your team will follow suit. Try to make a list of values and core beliefs that both you and your brand represent, and post this in your office. Promote a healthy interoffice lifestyle, and encourage your team to live up to these standards. By emphasizing these standards, and displaying them yourself, you will hopefully influence the office environment into a friendly and helpful work-space.

The times that call for bold, confident, courageous leadership.  As history has shown, those with the guts to step forward, take some risks and lead change during downturns will be the winners as the economy rebounds. But it's not easy. Demonstrating leadership courage whether it's having an uncomfortable conversation, communicating when you don't have all the answers, or making a decision to move ahead on a new project can be scary. Yet it's precisely the kind of behavior that fosters trust and sets a crucial example for others to follow at a time when they'd rather hunker down and wait for the storm to pass.

Nothing worthwhile in life comes easy. You will never see success without hard work, determination and the ability to make tough decisions. Sometimes you have to be ruthless for the sake of the company, your employees and, of course, yourself. But it's equally as important to have a strong moral code and to conduct yourself in an honorable, honest and forthright manner. A reputation for fair play and integrity is priceless. Whatever you do in business and in life, keep your moral compass on track. Don't ever compromise it. Your integrity is more important than your bank balance. There will be many occasions when you might be tempted to take a shortcut. Make a decision because it's the right and decent thing to do. Make a decision knowing that it's one you can justify to your family, kids and loved ones. After all, they make us want to be the best possible version of ourselves and are the main reason we strive to be successful.
